Chantel and Pedro began starring on reality television with Season 4 of 90 Day Fiance on TLC.

Their first stint led into subsequent appearances on Seasons 2, 3 and 4 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? as well as TLC's new spinoff, The Family Chantel, which is currently airing.

Chantel met Pedro online over four years ago when she was looking to learn Spanish and a friend connected her with Pedro, who was also hoping to improve his English skills.

After getting to know each other over the phone and video chat, Chantel traveled to the Dominican Republic a few times and then she and Pedro got engaged.

Pedro then traveled to America on a K-1 visa at age 24 so he and Chantel could marry within 90 days, but Chantel -- who was 25 years old at the time -- told her family he was arriving on a student visa instead.

Once Chantel's family learned Chantel would be getting married after a whirlwind romance overseas, they were suspicious Pedro was after Chantel's money and/or a Green Card.

Chantel's family also thought it was strange Pedro was frequently sending money home to his mother and sister in the Dominican Republic.

To ensure Pedro wasn't keeping any secrets, such as having children back home, Chantel's family hired a private investigator to research his background and also demanded the couple sign a prenuptial agreement in order to protect Chantel's financial interests before their wedding.

Pedro hated that Chantel's family didn't trust him, but Pedro's mother Lidia and sister Nicole weren't fond of Chantel either and disapproved of their relationship.

Tension between the two families exploded during the third-season of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? when Pedro got into a blowout fight with Chantel's brother River at the dinner table and then Nicole accused Chantel's family of attacking her in their home.

Pedro seemed to run across the dining table to hit River, which resulted in a broken light and food scattered about. Tempers flared, weaves were pulled off, and the scene culminated into Chantel crying in a chair.

Chantel subsequently revealed she was not ready to try for a baby and expand their family due to all the chaos.

Chantel believed Pedro was out of line, but Pedro felt he was the victim and River owed him an apology.

As shown on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?'s fourth season, the couple met with an immigration attorney to discuss the renewal of Pedro's U.S. Green Card, and Pedro mentioned potentially opening a business in his home country while continuing to live in the United States. He also asked about the repercussions of filing for divorce.

"Was this your plan all along? To come here and marry me just for a green card so you can leave me, use me and start your business?" Chantel vented to cameras.

Pedro then hopped on a flight to the Dominican Republic to visit his family with a heavy and confused heart. Neither Pedro or Chantel knew whether their marriage was going to last, with Chantel even saying she felt they were "doomed."

While in the Dominican Republic, Pedro's mother and sister tried to convince Pedro to end his relationship with Chantel.

Nicole even filmed one of her friends, Coraima, flirting and grinding on Pedro and eventually showed it to Chantel so she and Pedro would hopefully break up.

The trip included many awkward and heated meetings for Chantel and Pedro's immediate loved ones, but no solution was ever reached and neither side apologized for their ongoing problems.

"You're the cause of all of this. You don't deserve Pedro," Nicole told Chantel.

Chantel vented her "marriage [was] over" and "it's done." She accused Pedro of acting like "a little b-tch" around his family.

Chantel also learned from her friend Obed during that trip to Pedro's native country that her marriage might have been a setup or a scam.

Obed said of Nicole and Lidia, "I heard they were finding an American for him to marry... Any American. I don't think [Pedro] knew about it."

Ironically, Chantel's mother previously accused Lidia of running an operation to help women from the Dominican Republic find American men -- a financial venture Pedro had denied.

Pedro later apologized to Chantel for behaving recklessly that one night out and for betraying her trust. He also insisted he was never involved in a marriage scheme as Obed had suggested.

"You need to believe me... I am going to do everything to make you happy... Nobody loves you the way that I love you," Pedro told his wife.

Chantel wanted to believe she and Pedro genuinely fell in love despite his family's alleged "conniving, evil, malicious" plot to get them together.

The Season 4 finale of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? showed Chantel and Pedro returning home to Atlanta, but they weren't exactly lovey dovey.

Chantel accused Pedro of resorting back to his old ways by playing video games and ignoring her, but Pedro felt unappreciated.

"Sometimes I want this thing over, you know? Damn!" Pedro vented, as Chantel cried alone in their bedroom.

Pedro said on Part 1 of the Tell-All special for Happily Ever After?'s fourth season he had been in depression over the past couple of months and felt "really down" because his wife never took his side.

"I don't know whether to stay in this marriage and stay here with my wife... or f-ck off," Pedro admitted.

During Part 2 of the Tell-All special, Chantel was feeling "pretty hopeless" about her marriage. She didn't know whether she could trust Pedro. The pair both left the taping fed up with each other and tired.

The Family Chantel, starring the couple and their lively in-laws and siblings, then premiered on July 22 on TLC.

The show kicked off with Chantel telling her family that her marriage might've been a scam, and Chantel's mother Karen accused Pedro of essentially "body trafficking" her daughter.

After more than a year of separation, Chantel's family confronted Pedro in his own apartment and bombarded him with questions -- as well as a taser -- about his motives and flirtation with other women.

"You must think my daughter is like a business, like a store. But guess what? Nothing is for sale!" Karen yelled, before telling the cameras, "[Pedro] lost his mind... I do not 100 percent feel Chantel is safe in her marriage, and that upsets me tremendously."

Chantel felt "hopeless" and confessed she "never thought things would get this bad."

Pedro, however, agreed to go to family counseling with Chantel's family in order to hopefully resolve their issues. He also agreed to spend the night at a dude ranch with Thomas and River to bond.

The three men had a great time at the dude ranch together, and it seemed like a huge step in a positive direction.

"I'm jealous of the relationship Thomas and River have. I hoped coming to America they could be like [that] to me, but they're not. But now, something can change," Pedro said.

But it was unclear whether Pedro's attempts to get along with Chantel's family were selfish and insincere, because he was apparently looking to bring Nicole and Lidia over to the United States the whole time.

Pedro even met with an immigration lawyer, Erin Elliott, to discuss how he could bring his loved ones over to the United States permanently. Pedro learned he must become a U.S. citizen before he could sponsor them.

Erin revealed Pedro had two years until he could become a U.S. citizen and then the process of bringing his mother over would probably take a year-and-a-half. There was an exception, however, if Pedro was married to and living with a U.S. citizen, which he clearly was.

Pedro needed to show evidence of his marriage and then Chantel would be forced to participate in an interview with him.

Pedro didn't think Chantel would cooperate, and he was disappointed to learn it would cost him about $10,000 to bring his mother and sister over to America.

Nicole predicted Chantel's family would try to "sabotage" the process of their immigration, and Lidia called Chantel "a phony."

When Pedro broke the news to Chantel's family about his plans, he said, "I feel like nobody's on my side... This here is not my family. That's why I want to bring my mom and my sister living with me in the United States."

Chantel said she was "so, so furious" Pedro "dropped that bomb in family counseling." She called it "such a betrayal" and thought his family moving to America would make her life "hell."

Chantel and Pedro got into a huge fight over the topic, especially because Chantel didn't want Pedro to be completely financially responsible for his family once they arrived in the United States.

Pedro also had yet to tell Chantel about his visit with the lawyer in which he had discovered Chantel must attend an interview in order to bring his relatives over.

Pedro later traveled to the Dominican Republic again to visit with his grandmother, who was sick and had taken care of Pedro and Lidia when they were younger.

Chantel went with Pedro to support him and put on a united front, but Nicole blamed Chantel for keeping Pedro away from his loved ones during his last visit home.

"It's all Chantel's fault," Nicole told Pedro. "She took away time you could spend with your family. And now grandma feels really bad and she's sad. And that's why I blame Chantel for all these things."

Not only did Chantel want to show Pedro's friends that she wasn't going anywhere, but Chantel also demanded Pedro put Coraima in her place

"You need to tell her that you love me and that you're never going to be with her and you don't want anything else to do with her," said Chantel, who didn't want any of Pedro's friends to be a bad influence on him.

"Okay," Pedro replied.

Karen, Thomas, and Chantel's siblings River and Winter also traveled to the Dominican Republic to make sure Lidia and Nicole would "bully" Chantel.

"If they fight again, it's gonna be no way to bring my family to the United States," Pedro reasoned.

Karen just intended to support Chantel and not "bring war" upon Pedro's family.

When Nicole and Lidia found out Chantel's entire family was in the Dominican Republic soon, Nicole vented, "I won't spend time with them only to get a pass to go to the United States... They are literally crazy! Crazies!"

But Pedro asked his family to show they are human in order to improve relations in the future.

Chantel later eased into a reunion by attending a local baseball game with Pedro, Lidia and Nicole. It was obvious the girls wanted to go at it, but they were "fake nice" to each other.

Chantel and Pedro then had their two families reunite for a discussion.

"Two people fell in love, both families don't want them to be together and they're always feuding. I hope this doesn't end up like Romeo and Juliet in which we both drink poison and then I stab myself," Chantel told the cameras.

Lidia intended to keep the peace and be on her best behavior during the reunion because Pedro had reminded her of his plan to bring them to the United States so they could be together and how crucial Chantel would be in executing that plan.

But Nicole told her mother that Chantel's family seemed to be part of a satanic cult because they'd pray and then fight. She brought up the moment River had allegedly lunged at Pedro across the dinner table.

"If the situation turns violent, it won't be with Nicole anymore. Chantel's mother, now she's going to have to step to me and I'm going to snatch her wig, and I'm going to sweep the floor with it and take her entire wig," Lidia said in a confessional.

Pedro, Chantel, Karen, Thomas, Lidia and Nicole then met in a courtyard to talk -- outside of a restaurant where no one was around -- in case things got out of hand.

Pedro said if this meeting didn't go well, it could "break" his marriage.

When everyone got together, Karen noted her family flew to the Dominican Republic to support Pedro because they loved Pedro and Chantel, but Nicole and Lidia were shocked to hear they had love for him.

The two families had trouble communicating with Pedro as the translator, but Nicole basically accused Chantel's family of physically attacking her.

Chantel's family, however, tried to say they were just trying to protect Chantel in that moment and they'd probably do the same for Pedro in that scenario.

"If somebody jumps on top of you, I would hope that somebody rip they're weave out," Chantel said.

"If someone jumped, they would protect you," Karen said simultaneously.

Pedro then translated those comments as, "She said that if someone... She would take your wig off too."

Lidia argued it crosses the line to attack someone physically and she'd snatch Karen's wig off it wasn't for Pedro's plan to bring them to America.

Lidia was then fired up and brought up the past as a result, which sparked fighting from both sides.

Pedro noted the union was going "terrible." And after Lidia pointed a finger at Chantel and stood up, Karen stood up in defense of her daughter and the confrontation quickly got heated.

Lidia called Chantel's family "a bad example" of an American family, but Chantel said all of her loved ones work hard and the women are strong and independent and don't rely on men.

"You invite my children to your house and then you assault them," Lidia noted.

Chantel stood up for her family because she was upset Pedro wasn't translating for them correctly.

Chantel accused Nicole and Lidia of "poisoning" Pedro so he'd work against her, and Karen called Nicole "crazy" and said they were "over it" all.

Meanwhile, Pedro was angry at Chantel because he felt she didn't understand him and wouldn't stand by him or give his family a chance.

"They're not receptive to any kindness," Chantel told Karen, before telling the cameras, "I hope all dogs go to heaven because Pedro's mom and sister are complete b-tches."

She added, "There's no way his mom and sister are going to be living with me under the same roof -- ever."

Karen was glad the fight ended before she had to kick someone's ass, and then Lidia was shown telling Pedro to just end his marriage and let Chantel go.

The first reunion ended with Chantel and Pedro fighting because the gathering had been "a disaster."

"We were trusting you to be a leader for the communication between our two families," Chantel said.

But Pedro insisted he had no intention of giving his family the upper hand, and with that being said, he accused Chantel of yelling at his family and being aggressive and trying to be on top.

"Our intentions were not to fight, but yours were," Chantel said.

Pedro said it made no sense for him to sabotage the night when he wanted Chantel's family to get along with his own relatives more than anything, but Chantel wasn't convinced they were playing for the same team.

Chantel therefore thought of the idea of hiring a language translator to help the two families communicate. Chantel attributed part of the problem to their language barrier.

Chantel apologized to Pedro for fighting and still had hope their families could one day get along in the United States.

The couple therefore decided to have Karen, Thomas, Lidia and Nicole meet again -- but first, Pedro needed to convince his reluctant mother and sister to be willing.

During the second reunion, Chantel's siblings Winter and River also participated. Karen hoped Lidia and Nicole could keep the past in the past, because Karen insisted her family had already moved on.

Emma Fernandez served as the translator, and no one could talk unless he or she was holding a coconut, which was a technique Chantel's family had learned from family counseling.

Lidia started the discussion by saying she wanted to resolve past conflicts. Chantel therefore asked Lidia and Nicole if they had been looking for an American woman for Pedro to marry before she met them.

Chantel questioned whether Lidia and Nicole were hoping Pedro could stay married just to obtain a spousal visa and Green Card, and she said she heard such information from their former family friend, Obed.

Pedro was so disappointed in Obed for allegedly gossiping and spreading lies.

"That's not real. That is not true," Pedro insisted.

Karen said at the time Chantel got together with Pedro, River had done some investigating and found a website that could be "linked to human trafficking" with Lidia's name on it. The website allegedly helped people in the Dominican Republic find American partners to marry.

"These two ladies are pretending and lying because it was an initiative to find an American woman to get [Pedro] over to the United States so Lidia and her daughter can take advantage of the American economy through their son and, most of all, through an American woman," Karen explained to the cameras.

"They want to keep using Chantel to come to America. I know this is true."

Nicole, however, explained Obed had problems with her and so used those problems to hurt her family by "saying things that aren't true." Nicole said Obed used Chantel as an outlet to target them considering they didn't get along.

Nicole alleged Obed had accused her family of running a fraudulent business as well as using a web page to find a girlfriend for Pedro. Nicole said the story was "totally false" and a "total lie."

Nicole, in fact, told the cameras it was a low blow on Obed's part and he had backstabbed her.

Karen wasn't sure she could believe Pedro's family, but Pedro argued Lidia never even met Chantel when she first visited the Dominican Republic. And Lidia said there was no proof she had been running some sort of scam.

RELATED LINK: '90 DAY FIANCE' COUPLES NOW: WHO IS STILL TOGETHER? WHO HAS SPLIT? WHERE ARE THEY NOW? (PHOTOS)

Lidia insisted she was telling the truth and has always done what is best for her son. Lidia said she liked Chantel when she met her and had tried to be supportive.

"Chantel, you are a daughter to me," Lidia said.

Chantel said in a confessional that was good to hear, but she wasn't convinced Lidia really wanted a relationship with her since Lidia allegedly tended to be mean to her.

Lidia then invited Chantel's relatives to spend more time with them and visit with Pedro's grandmother, but Karen and Thomas were skeptical and wondered if something "sinister" was on the horizon.

Thomas and Karen said they'd think about accepting Lidia's invitation, but Pedro pushed them to give his mother and sister a chance. Pedro wanted the group to unite.

In the latest episode, Pedro was shown meeting with Obed to ask why Obed had presented his marriage as a "conspiracy," but Obed said he had left Pedro out of the equation.

Obed told the cameras he had "lived the experience" and their mutual friend had set Pedro and Chantel up just so Pedro could receive a Green Card.

"I said [Nicole and Lidia] made it happen and you fell in love with Chantel," Obed claimed in his conversation with Pedro.

Pedro didn't know why Chantel listened to Obed instead of her own husband.

"I am with Chantel because she's the love of my life... In this moment, I am thinking she is the woman I'm going to need every day of my life," Pedro told the cameras.

Pedro accused Obed of seeking revenge, but Obed said he'd only want revenge against Nicole and Lidia -- not Pedro, who used to be his good friend.

Obed apparently blamed Pedro's family for ruining his last relationship with his boyfriend, but Pedro also pointed out that wasn't true.

Obed told Pedro that he had "way bigger problems" to work on than dealing with him and he would try to fix the mess he had created.

Are Chantel and Pedro still together after The Family Chantel finale?

Rumors recently swirled Chantel and Pedro may have split, and Chantel posted a May 4 comment on Instagram that prompted speculation her relationship is in trouble.

When a fan speculated Chantel and Pedro have split, Chantel just replied, "Seriously."

It was unclear at the time whether she meant "seriously" as a question out of disbelief or as a statement confirming it's true.

Chantel also posted a cryptic message in June on Instagram in which she wrote, "When the storm has passed, put your energy into rebuilding your life, don't waste time looking back."

But it appears Chantel and Pedro are still together and married after all!

Chantel and Pedro are secretive about their relationship and largely refrain from posting photos and updates of themselves together on social media -- presumably due to their contracts with TLC -- but it seems pretty clear their relationship hasn't ended.

Not only were the couple an item when they recently filmed The Family Chantel, but in July, Chantel said she and Pedro were still trying to fix the problems in their marriage.

"We have our differences that we're still working on. We have our challenges, but that's something that will play out on the show," Chantel told E! News in an interview.

"There is no such thing as a perfect relationship, and we have our flaws."

Despite their flaws, Chantel also told People in late July if she could go back and do it all over again, she'd still choose to be with Pedro.

"I would still choose to marry him, but I would definitely have more realistic expectations," Chantel said.

Chantel and Pedro wouldn't still be working on issues if they had broken up and gone their separate ways!
