The CW announced Farmer Wants a Wife, a new Outback Jack-like reality dating series that will see if a farmer can find love amongst a group of women who live the city-life, will premiere Wednesday, April 30 at 9PM ET/PT.

The CW began developing Farmer Wants a Wife last May and initially scheduled the European import as part of its 2007-2008 midseason programming lineup.

However it was left off The CW's midseason primetime programming schedule and network officials said the series would instead likely debut in May.

Farmer Wants a Wife will follow 10 women who are sick of city-slickers and instead want to try their hand at love with a good ole' country boy.  They'll vie for the bachelor's attention via a series of farm-themed challenges, such as driving a tractor and taking care of large livestock.

Produced by FreemantleMedia North America, Farmer Wants a Wife will be executive produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz and Super Delicious' Adam Cohen, Cara Tapper and Joanna Vernetti.
