The six-episode series is produced by Al Roker Entertainment, Inc., the production company founded in 1994 by NBC's The Today Show meteorologist.

"Television viewers will get the same unprecedented access to the inner workings of the DEA as our camera crews -- the raids, the risk and the danger," said Roker, who will executive produce DEA. "This series is the real deal, exposing elements of the illegal drug trade that you could not imagine. When you watch DEA, you will feel like you have gone undercover."

Each one-hour episode of DEA will follow a group of Special Agents and Task Force Officers in the DEA Detroit division as they fight the daily battle in the city's ongoing war against illegal drugs.  DEA follows Special Agents as they go undercover and work cases ranging from petty street level dealers all the way up to international drug traffickers.

In addition, DEA will also document the relationship Special Agents have with informants, revealing how the law officials work with the criminals to curb the selling of illegal drugs.

"This job is a calling. We love what we do and you can see that on the show through the dedication and excitement of these agents," said Special Agent Mary Irene Cooper, the DEA's Chief of Congressional and Public Affairs. "Nothing else I've seen captures the day-to-day experiences of drug law enforcement work like this series. You see the thrills, you see the anticipation, you see the chase, you see the reality. Most importantly you see the DEA agents for what they really are, a close-knit team dedicated to an important mission at any cost, trusting each other with their lives."

DEA, which is scheduled for a Spring 2008 premiere, is produced for Spike TV by Al Roker Entertainment, Inc. and Size 12 Productions. Executive producers for the series are Roker for Al Roker Entertainment and Russell Muth and Hank Capshaw for Size 12 Productions.
