Alexei Avdeyev faces up to five years in prison if he is convicted of fraud, the Regnum news agency reported.

Avdeyev was one of the contestants on "Dom-2 (House-2)." On the show, participants attempt to pair off with the three couples who are trying to win a house.

The victim says that Avdeyev, after setting himself up as a real estate agent in Smolensk, took a $1,900 deposit from her, left the office saying he had to make a telephone call and vanished with her money.

"Dom-2" and its predecessor, "Dom-1," have attracted unfavorable attention from members of parliament who say the shows corrode Russian morals.
