Animal Planet has announced it's ordered a sixth season of River Monsters, the network's most-watched series.

River Monsters will continue to follow host and extreme angler Jeremy Wade as he uncovers the world's largest, strangest and most dangerous fish.

It's unclear how many episodes Animal Planet has picked up for the new edition, but prior seasons aired between six to eight episodes each.

River Monsters' fifth-season finale aired last week and drew a series-high 2.2 million viewers. The season overall brought in River Monsters' highest ratings yet, averaging 1.8 million viewers.
