"After some routine tests I was diagnosed with blood clots in my lung. I'm told this happened to me because of the constant traveling around the country that I do for my job," The Real Housewives of Atlanta star wrote on her official website Tuesday.

"I'm thankful to be alive as the doctor advised me that most people don't recognize the symptoms of blood clots and don't go to the doctor and that's when the big problems start happening."

NeNe, 45, apparently went to the hospital "to get checked out" late last week when she "wasn't feeling well and was feeling a little short of breath."

"I know my body and I know when I should be concerned," explained NeNe. "Contrary to published reports I did not have a heart attack. I am fortunate to have had a wonderful experience with the doctors and nurses who took care of me."

When NeNe was in the hospital, she posted a picture of herself on her website lying in a hospital bed with her 17-month-old granddaughter Bri'asia sitting by her side. NeNe noted she's currently home recovering with her "wonderful" husband Gregg Leakes and family.

"I'm blessed to be home," the reality TV star wrote. "I so dearly love and appreciate each and every one of you for your concern and your prayers."

In addition to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Leakes also appeared on the fourth season of The Celebrity Apprentice and starred in her own spinoff with Gregg entitled I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding, which premiered in September and chronicled their June nuptials.

NeNe and Gregg got engaged for a second time and remarried after they had divorced in 2011 following 13 years of marriage. The couple met in 1996 and have one 13-year-old son together named Brentt. NeNe also has a son Bryson from a previous relationship.
