The second season of The Hills was the most watched program in its Mondays from 10PM to 10:30PM time period in the People 12-24 demographic across all broadcast and cable networks.  Viewers in that demographic grew by 25% from the first season to the second, and The Hills' second season was also up 6% among People 12-34.  According to MTV, The Hills' second season "reached 60 million viewers."

In addition to renewing The Hills for a third season, MTV also announced it is bringing back The Hills After Show, which gave fans of the reality series the chance to interact with each other following each on-air broadcast.

"The success of The Hills' second season illustrates our strategy to engage viewers across all screens and to give fans the ability to stay connected to the cast and their stories when they want and where they want," said Lois Curren, MTV's president of entertainment and programming. "The approach we've taken with The Hills re-affirms that our audience is embracing the touchpoints we've created for them to stay immersed in the shows they love."

Created by Adam DiVello, The Hills is executive produced by DiVello, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley and Sean Travis.
