Married at First Sight star Ryan Ignasiak says his wife Brett wasn't even around the entire week leading up to Season 13's couples retreat.

Ryan slowly distanced himself from Brett in the weeks that followed their marriage, but right when Ryan determined he must not give up and should put more effort into the relationship, it appeared Brett had backed off and almost checked out.

During the October 20 episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, Ryan watched back a Season 13 clip of an awkward exchange he had with Brett while at the couples ranch retreat.

"I mean, your actions say you don't want to try, your words are saying you do want to try -- and they don't line up," Brett tells Ryan in the clip.

"I mean, when you said in front of [Johnny Lam] and [Bao Huong Hoang] how you don't have a problem with sleeping with me and we're going to sleep in the same room, I was like, 'What?!'"

Ryan says in reply, "I don't know, I guess I was looking for any time to follow through with what I said I was gonna do."

Unfiltered host Jamie Otis -- who starred on Season 1 of Married at First Sight and is still married to her match, Doug Hehner -- pointed out how Ryan and Brett had such a mature conversation at Chappell Hill Lavender Farm in the country between Austin and Houston, TX.

When asked for his thoughts on Brett saying his actions and words didn't match up, Ryan explained, "This is a week after meeting with [MAFS expert, Dr. Pepper Schwartz] and I felt really good in that moment."

Ryan elaborated, "And then Sunday comes around and I make her breakfast, we go to the gym on Sunday, and then she didn't come home until 2:30 in the morning on Sunday! She does the same thing [two days later] on Tuesday!"

Ryan suggested Brett's absence robbed him of the opportunity to try and put more effort into their failing relationship.

"How am I supposed to build [any type of intimacy] going into this [retreat] weekend?" Ryan questioned.

"I know I probably deserved it at that point, but she wasn't present that whole week leading up to that [getaway]!"

Married at First Sight expert, Dr. Viviana Coles, joined Ryan on Unfiltered and said, "If you were to sync-up feelings for each other right now, you could make this happen."

"But it's almost like I see it in moments with her and I see it in moments with you, but [you are missing each other and not crossing paths]," Viviana explained.

"100 percent," Ryan agreed.

Viviana insisted, "That's the problem! And so maybe something like these last couple of weeks can help you to get to a place where you're like, 'No, we are going to time this and we are going to sync-up.' Because you and Brett just haven't synced-up yet."

Jamie proceeded to ask Ryan where he believed or hoped his marriage to Brett could go from that point on.

"I don't know. I don't know if there's one specific thing that we can do that's going to turn this around," Ryan shared.

"It's going to take a bunch of little, specific things that we could probably do in the next couple of weeks. But yeah, I think that I'm definitely not throwing in the towel, and I don't think that she is."

Ryan concluded, "But no, right now, she's not at her high point of this relationship -- and that's fair. We'll see where it goes from here."

But earlier in the Unfiltered broadcast, Ryan confessed it was going to take "a Hail Mary" for his relationship with Brett to work out with less than two weeks to go until "Decision Day," when the five couples of Season 13 must decide whether they want to stay married or get a divorce.

Before the couples retreat, Ryan explained to the cameras a spark was missing and he didn't feel an attraction to or butterflies for Brett.

Meanwhile, Brett was waiting to learn the truth from Ryan and have her husband open up about his feelings.

Brett had noticed a sudden and abrupt change in Ryan's attitude and demeanor, and his sister suggested to Brett that a woman from Ryan's past may have resurfaced and resulted in Ryan being distracted -- a claim he later denied.

Brett said she had also heard from someone else that Ryan just wanted to be friends with her.

Ryan though his actions and apparent lack of interest in Brett spoke volumes, but Brett said she needed verbal communication in order to really understand where Ryan was coming from and be on the same page.

Brett felt she had shown Ryan her true self, and she complained to her girlfriends on the show that Ryan just needed to "take it or leave it."

Brett even suggested that she felt devalued and disrespected by Ryan when venting her frustrations to the fellow Married at First Sight brides.

Brett told Ryan that he had broken her, but the couple agreed to continue working on things during their final relaxing day of the retreat -- and they appeared to head back to Houston optimistic about the future.

In addition to Brett, Ryan, Johnny, and Bao, Married at First Sight's thirteenth season, which currently airs on Wednesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on Lifetime, also stars Myrla Feria and Gil Cuero, Michaela Clark and Zack Freeman, and Rachel Gordillo and Jose San Miguel.
