Married at First Sight featured Michael asking Chloe for a divorce when she wanted to stay married to him on "Decision Day" and more drama breaking out amongst the other couples during the Season 17 episode that aired Wednesday night on Lifetime.

Married at First Sight's seventeenth season was filmed in Denver, CO, and the show stars Emily and Brennan, Clare and Cameron, Austin and Becca, Lauren and Orion, and Michael and Chloe.

The couples were matched by Married at First Sight experts Dr. Pia, Pastor Calvin Roberson, and Dr. Pepper Schwartz.

Orion and Lauren chose to divorce early in the process, but they continued to appear on the season every now and then.

Married at First Sight featured strangers meeting at the wedding altar, enjoying a honeymoon, and spending about two months moving in together and navigating the joys and struggles of daily life together.

On "Decision Day," each couple decided whether to remain married or end their marriage and get divorced.

Two couples -- Clare and Cameron as well as Emily and Brennan -- chose to divorce on Decision Day. Becca and Austin opted to stay together on Decision Day, however, they split the very next day after a big argument.

The Married at First Sight broadcast began with Chloe meeting up with her close friend, Cesar, four days prior to Decision Day.

When asked if she was ready for Decision Day, Chloe replied, "No, I'm not. We're just in this really mysterious place. Last night, I woke up to Michael saying that he was not built for marriage... It not only lowered my confidence, but I'm wondering how he feels about me."

Chloe said if she were to guess Michael's answer on Decision Day, it would probably be a "no" -- and she acknowledged that she wouldn't have said that two weeks ago.

Chloe thought things had changed quickly because Michael was scared, and she admitted that she didn't see it coming at all. Earlier that month, Chloe and Michael had been in a great place and Chloe was beaming with happiness.

"It's hard for me to imagine my life without him, and yet, at the same time, I don't know that we're meant to be," Chloe cried to her friend. "I've never been so torn in my entire life."

For the other couples, 19 days had passed since their Decision Day, and they all got together at a bar. Brennan, Clare and Cameron, however, didn't show up.

Clare apparently had to work, and Brennan had a softball game that he didn't want to miss.

Austin and Becca had texted a few times since their split, and they were both still healing from their breakup.

"Your feelings don't just go away. I'm still getting over it, and it's hard," Austin admitted to the Married at First Sight cameras, hoping to at least establish a friendship with Becca again.

Becca confessed that while she still cared for Austin immensely, she believed that she's not what's best for him.

Becca explained that the best way to love Austin would be to let him go so that he can find exactly who -- and what -- he needs. Becca told the group how she fell for Austin hard and so she needed to remove herself from the situation in order to move forward.

"It's hard seeing Austin tonight. It makes my heart hurt. It's weird not to kiss him or just be with him," Becca lamented in a confessional. "I miss him, and it makes me sad."

Emily also didn't want to dwell on the past, and she was disappointed that Brennan was a no-show because she had been hoping to have a good time with him.

Orion then announced to the group how Lauren is a smart and beautiful woman whom he held in high regard, but Lauren confirmed that she had "checked out" of her relationship with Orion because there was allegedly no follow through on his part.

Lauren had apparently been waiting for a text response from Orion for over a week, but Orion claimed that he wanted to think about her words and give her a thorough, genuine response.

"It seemed like a lot of psychoanalyzing, and honestly, a little bit of rejection," Orion declared.

Lauren completely disagreed and felt attacked for trying to give Orion what he wanted, which was a friendship.

Orion alleged that Lauren had been checked out for a while, but Lauren snapped and announced that Orion was the one who had left her and wasn't communicating.

"Every time I pull back, you pull me back in, and then I'm like, 'Okay, I'll try some more,' and then you literally give me nothing," Lauren vented.

After Lauren ranted about Orion's behavior and mixed signals, he apologized to her for hurting her and saying generalized statements that often confused her. Orion admitted that he had taken Lauren on a bit of an emotional roller coaster.

For Emily's part, she explained how she had put effort into her marriage and it wasn't reciprocated, and Becca felt the same way.

Austin insisted he had done his best to make his marriage work, but Emily thought the men's priorities were off during the experiment.

"Did I ever really have feelings for him? I don't really know," Emily said of Brennan, pointing out how they had totally different communication styles.

"It just seems it was too calculated... [He] decided [in the marriage] to put up guardrails and then have a plot to be followed... You guys cut our process short and decided the trajectory for everything."

It was supposed to be a fun gathering, but once again, the situation got very tense and it appeared to be a men vs. women dynamic.

Later on, Michael met up with his buddy Sam for drinks. Michael said he felt optimistic that he could continue his marriage but he was also experiencing some negative emotions, such as fear, uncertainty and discomfort about Decision Day.

Michael just wanted his positive feelings to outweigh the negative, but he wasn't sure that was going to happen. Michael was struggling with the expectations Chloe and marriage had for him.

Sam could tell that Michael was fearful and getting inside his head, so he advised his friend to put himself out there and put his trust in Chloe. Sam believed that Michael's problems were more internal and he had the skills to be a great husband.

"My opinion, I would probably say 'yes' on Decision Day," Sam told Michael.

About three weeks after her Decision Day, Becca spoke to her therapist on the phone. Becca admitted that Austin looked cute and she wanted to kiss him during the cast's gathering, and she wondered how much her anxiety had played a role in their divorce.

But Becca realized her anxiety was worse in her relationship with Austin because she didn't feel safe. Becca acknowledged how she must celebrate how far she's come and a newfound confidence in herself.

Becca knew she had a lot to look forward to, and that she had learned so much being married to Austin.

"If I were to put together my perfect human, he'd definitely look like Austin. Austin is hot! But maybe just someone who has honesty as a priority, and who has me as a priority," Becca cried.

Three weeks after the majority of couples had their Decision Day, Becca orchestrated a boudoir photo shoot for the female cast members. All of the women, except for Chloe, posed in lingerie and embraced their bodies, and it was a beautiful bonding experience for the women.

Shortly before Michael and Chloe's Decision Day, Chloe rented them a cabin in Boulder, CO. Chloe hoped they could get back to a romantic place, and she had chocolate covered strawberries and a charcuterie board prepared for them.

Michael admitted to Chloe that he was worried about giving up his independence to a certain extent, but he knew that the couple had great chemistry and a level of comfort and compatibility with each other.

Going into their Decision Day, Chloe and Michael agreed that what was meant to be was going to happen. The pair spent the night apart, taking some time to think and self-reflect.

On Michael and Chloe's Decision Day, the experts spoke about how they were shocked for Michael to seemingly have a sudden change of heart about being married.

The experts were well aware that Michael and Chloe had a strong connection, and so they didn't understand Michael's sudden shift in mood and his sudden doubts of being a husband.

Michael explained in a confessional, "Our values are aligned, but they key differentiator is that there are certain things she is much more passionate about than I am."

Michael was referring to how Chloe wants to have an animal sanctuary filled with animals and also foster about five children at a time. But Michael also called Chloe "the best partner possible."

"I don't know if I'm in the emotional place to continue building this marriage," Michael said.

Chloe was also aware of the fact she and Michael had different goals for the future, even though they got along great and were a great team.

Once Michael and Chloe met with the experts, Michael gushed about how Chloe was an excellent communicator as well as "the model of empathy." He admitted that Chloe is a better human than himself, and Dr. Pepper pointed out how that was an extraordinary compliment.

Chloe admitted it was difficult for Michael to "settle in" and let all of his walls down.

"I feel like once they came down, that's where things got a little scary for him," Chloe announced.

"That's when the seeds of doubt were planted. The further into the journey we got, the more Michael was overwhelmed with the idea of marriage. Michael has been very clear, as the days have gone on, that it's just more than he was expecting."

Chloe claimed she and Michael had ignored red flags in the beginning that may be their demise, and she said they had spent too much time in their heads. Chloe noted how she was either all in or all out, and that she wanted a partner who felt the same way.

On the topic of Chloe's hopes and dreams, Chloe insisted that she was willing to think as a "we" rather than a "me" in her relationship.

Michael confirmed he and Chloe had built a very strong emotional bond and he couldn't point to anything about Chloe, in particular, that was giving him doubt. He just said he wanted a confidence and desire to continue a marriage.

Pastor Cal gently accused Michael of overanalyzing things and essentially self-sabotaging his relationship rather than focusing on the good, but Michael argued that he was going to make his decision based on how he felt and what his emotions were telling him.

Dr. Pia asked Michael how he felt when he was with Chloe, and Michael said she made him feel happy and secure. Michael noted how he enjoyed spending time with Chloe and getting to know her.

It then became time for the couple to announce their final decision.

Chloe looked at Michael with a racing heart and shared how she entered the journey believing in love being a choice and not something they'd automatically feel every day. Chloe explained how she promised Michael that she'd make her decision in that very moment.

"I'm glad I made that promise, because I'm feeling really differently than I anticipated feeling," Chloe revealed. "And I think I want to see if we have more story to tell. So, I want to keep going."

Michael flashed a big smile across his face, and then it was his turn to make a choice.

Michael recalled leaning heavily on Chloe and hoping his positive emotions would suppress any doubt and concern that he had.

"I feel that I, in this moment, feel like I have to lean into what my compass [is saying] about how I feel about my ability to develop and work on a marriage," Michael shared.

"And I just don't feel that I can do that to the degree that I would be comfortable and confident in, but more importantly, that you would deserve. Even though I'm choosing divorce, I hope you would understand that doesn't change anything that I said about you and how I feel about you as a person."

"I know," Chloe replied, "same."

Chloe told Michael that she'd "think the world of him forever" because he's a good man, and he hoped they'd continue to be in each other's lives going forward.

Pastor Cal was very disappointed about this match deciding to break up, and Michael agreed that he also felt very sad.

Michael felt confident in his decision, and Chloe said she wasn't surprised to hear Michael's response.

Michael hoped he wouldn't come to regret his decision, but Chloe was apparently glad that Michael had followed his heart.

"I don't want to waste any time building a relationship with somebody that's not ready to reciprocate what I need, but that's not to say that I didn't believe there could be something more. I still do," Chloe concluded.
