Married at First Sight star Dave Flaherty admits he had no idea Amber Martorana was so unsure of whether to stay married to him come "Decision Day" on the Lifetime show's seventh season.

"I can even see watching her [on the show] that she wasn't sure," Dave told host Jamie Otis on Tuesday night's Married at First Sight: Unfiltered special dubbed Let's Stay Together.

"It was a really tough day for her. I see it a lot more now watching it than I did in the moment, so I'm happy we made that decision that we're going to keep working [on it]."

Dave watched a video clip on Unfiltered of footage in which Amber gushed about being back in her old apartment the night before "Decision Day," which filmed in late May 2018, when each couple was instructed to spend the night apart.

Not only did she miss her own bed and her own space, but she admitted she was feeling very confused about her relationship with Dave.

"That's got to be rough, hearing that," Jamie pointed out to Dave.

"Yeah, I hadn't heard that before. It was a little rough," Dave acknowledged. "I knew that she was conflicted that day, but I didn't realize maybe how conflicted and how much she did have a glimpse into her old life and how much she liked that."

Jamie then elaborated on how surprised she was to see Amber's uncertainty on "Decision Day" by saying she had assumed Amber was "all in" to the marriage by that point.

"She was very unsure of what she wanted to do, and I wasn't anticipating that at all," Dave confessed. "I think those insecurities and doubts crept back in and they got to her."

However, Dave said it "feels good" that he and Amber made a mutual decision to stay married and try to make things work long-term on "Decision Day."

"It had been so hard, you know, and I think we both had times where we were unsure we wanted to continue, but being able to come together in that moment and just saying, 'Let's keep trying, I think we're worth it, I think you're worth it, I think this relationship is worth it,' it was a good moment," Dave explained.

And Dave noted he's "absolutely" hopeful his marriage to Amber will be a success down the road.

"Yeah. Absolutely. Something I said was, 'Let's commit to getting rid of the negative energy and only focusing on the positive,'" Dave revealed on Unfiltered.

"Because something I said about Amber from Day 1 was there are so many good things -- so many good things -- and we get caught up on the negative stuff. So, I think moving forward, if we just focus on the positives, we'll be fine."

Jamie then asked Dave how he's changed as a result of the Married at First Sight process given it's such an extreme eight-week experiment.

"In so many ways. I think that I thought I was very patient going into it. I certainly tested my patience and think I have become more patient -- patient in a different way. I think something I am now striving to be is selfless," Dave shared.

"Being 37 years old and being single for a long time, I can get pretty selfish. And some of that's okay, but I would rather put someone's needs in front of my own and take care of someone. And all of these things about being a husband are now starting to focus me on [that]."

Dave and Amber tied the knot without even knowing each other's first names. Not only did they decide to stay together at the end of Married at First Sight, but the other two Season 7 couples decided to do the same -- Tristan Thompson and Mia Bally as well as Bobby Dodd and Danielle Bergman.
