Jason Derulo has confirmed he is broken up with Jordin Sparks.

During an interview with KDWB in Minneapolis on Thursday, the 25-year-old R&B and pop singer revealed, "Everything is cool man," Us Weekly reported.

"It's not a bad situation, it's not one of those kinds of things."

Derulo reportedly said he intends to remain friends with Sparks, 24, who won American Idol's sixth season back in 2007.

While Derulo dished a tiny bit on the current status of his relationship with Sparks, he initially confessed he'd "rather not" talk about the split, according to the magazine.

"They are both upset," a source told Us of the couple of three years. "It just wasn't working. It was a lot of travel and hard to work with their schedules."

According to multiple sources, the split was mutual, which likely comes as a surprise to fans since Derulo just recently told E! News he had plans to pop the question to his girlfriend "when the time is right."

Derulo and Sparks reportedly began dating in September 2011. Their relationship, however, wasn't confirmed until Derulo spoke up in January 2012.

The pair just wore matching white outfits to the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards late last month. Sparks had also reportedly expressed plans to travel with her man during his upcoming "Talk Dirty" tour.

Last year, Sparks starred in Derulo's music video for his popular song "Marry Me." The storyline in which Derulo was shown proposing to Sparks stirred up engagement rumors that neither party necessarily shot down. Derulo had admitted to E! News the song was about Sparks and they were in "true love."
