The inspiring story of "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino is being put on film for the Lifetime cable network.

The singer is expected to play herself in the story of how she overcame sexual abuse, poverty and illiteracy to win the Fox TV talent competition's third season, create a double platinum album and grab four 2006 Grammy nominations, The New York Post reported Thursday.

Barrino released a memoir last year called "Life is Not a Fairy Tale" and revealed she was functionally illiterate and working with tutors to improve her skills.
