While jogging in Chelsea, MA, last week, Stevens was struck by a van and suffered a fractured skull, potential deafness in his right ear, a broken arm and more injuries.

"Thank you to everyone who has been calling, texting and messaging. Early this week I was hit by a van while out for a run and suffered a fractured skull and dislocated and broken arm," Stevens, 28, wrote on his Facebook page Saturday, giving fans an update on his condition.

"Among other injuries and disorders I'm dealing with, it appears I will have some, if not total deafness in my right ear. The staff at Mass General were above and beyond anything I could've ever asked for."

Stevens is recovering and healing in Buffalo for the next couple of weeks, where his parents are taking care of him. However, he'll be receiving more medical treatment in Boston throughout that time, according to Us Weekly.

"Thank you very much for all of the well wishes and prayers. It truly means a lot to me," continued Stevens, who is forced to take time off from work as a concierge for a downtown Boston hotel.

Stevens finished in sixth place on Idol's third season back in 2004. He auditioned at age 16 and the crooner is best remembered for singing Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin songs. Stevens reportedly created the seven-piece ensemble group John Stevens Band last year and sings with the Beantown Swing Orchestra.
