Chicago's Jennifer Hudson has reportedly landed the role of Effie White in the big screen version of the Broadway hit "Dreamgirls."

The third season "American Idol" contestant told Wednesday's New York Daily News: "They said I was born for this."

With Hudson and Beyonce Knowles now cast as Dreamettes, there is plenty of speculation about who the third member of the girl group will be, the newspaper noted.

Jamie Foxx, who is also starring in the musical with Eddie Murphy, had been publicly pushing "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino for the role of Effie.

Barrino also had Hollywood powerhouse Denzel Washington in her corner, the Daily News said. Washington directed her screen test and reportedly promised to do a cameo if she got a part.
