During the July 17 broadcast, two of the Top 10 On the Lot finalists will be eliminated based on viewer votes cast after last week's episode, in which five of the remaining aspiring filmmakers aired their individual five-minute shorts based on the story idea of "When Two Worlds Collide,"  In addition, the July 17 broadcast will also feature the other five members of On the Lot's Top 10 screening new individual five-minute action shorts for the show's home viewers.

Fox has also announced that Lemony Snicket and City of Angels director Brad Silberling will serve as On the Lot's guest judge during the following week's July 24 broadcast in which two of the finalists who screened a five-minute action short during the July 17 broadcast will be eliminated, and the Top 6 will be revealed.  The Top 6 On the Lot finalists will then each present an original comedy-themed short film to be critiqued by Silberling as well as regular On the Lot judges Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall.

One of the Top 6 will be eliminated during the July 31 On the Lot broadcast, resulting in the competition's Top 5 finalists.
