Similar to the show's first season, Storm Chasers' second season will follow research meteorologist Josh Wurman and filmmaker Sean Casey and their teams as they attempted to go inside a tornado and gather never-recorded scientific data and video footage during this past spring's tornado season.

Like last year, Wurman led the entire team from his command post, a Doppler on Wheels vehicle that helped ensure the group's safety as they maneuvered across "Tornado Alley," the 700,000 miles of flatland between the Rocky and Appalachian Mountains, while Casey attempted to film the tornadoes from inside the "TIV," his self-designed and self-built Tornado Intercept Vehicle.

Unlike last year, Wurman and Casey's teams were also joined by a new storm chaser this season: "greenhorn" meteorologist Reed Timmer.

In addition to Storm Chasers' premiere, Discovery also announced that Dirty Jobs will return with new fourth-season episodes on Tuesday, October 7 at 9PM ET/PT; Toughest Race on Earth: Iditarod, a new six-episode reality series that will follow some of the sled dog teams that competed in this year's Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, will premiere on Tuesday, October 14 at 10PM ET/PT; and Prototype This, a new series where an expert team will try to create prototypes of new ideas, will premiere on Wednesday, October 15 at 10PM ET/PT.
