"I'm really grateful to be given this opportunity to make an album and let people hear my music," said Bowersox.

"I'm looking forward to working with all of the folks at 19/Jive."

The 24-year-old from Toledo, OH was defeated by Lee Dewyze during American Idol's ninth-season finale late last month and reports subsequently surfaced that he signed with 19 Recordings Limited/RCA Records while she signed with 19 Recordings Limited/Jive Records.

"Crystal is one of the most naturally gifted and talented singer songwriters to have ever come out of Idol," said American Idol creator and 19 Entertainment founder Simon Fuller.

"The breadth of her talent is inspiring."

Bowersox will be recording her album this summer while she also participates in the American Idol Live! concert tour, which kicks off July 1 in Auburn Hills, MI.
