Claire Danes tries to figure out whether her new neighbor, played by Matthew Rhys, killed his wife in a trailer released Thursday for the new Netflix series The Beast in Me.

Danes plays grieving author Aggie Wiggs, who learns that real estate tycoon Nile Jarvis (Rhys) has just moved in down the street. The charming, yet mysterious, Nile is accused of killing his wife and Aggie wants to learn the truth.

Aggie decides to make Nile the subject of her new book and conducts a series of interviews with him.

"Spending all that time with a possible murderer doesn't scare you?" her agent, played by Deirdre O'Connell, asks her in the trailer.

But it's not just Nile that has some darkness in him.

"You've got some bloodlust in you," Nile tells Aggie in the trailer. "I can smell it."

Howard Gordon, who previously worked with Danes on Homeland, is showrunner, writer and executive producer on the new series and Gabe Rotter is creator. Jodie Foster and Conan O'Brien produce. The series also stars Brittany Snow and Natalie Morales.

The Beast in Me debuts on Netflix on Nov. 13.
