Chelsea Macek was a 25-year-old from Galesburg, IL, and Yamir Castillo was a 28-year-old from Managua, Nicaragua when he arrived in America on a K-1 visa.
The couple met while Chelsea was volunteering in Nicaragua and Yamir was a member of a Nicaraguan boy band.
Yamir moved to the United States to be with Chelsea, and he continued to pursue music while she became an elementary school teacher.
Yamir and Chelsea got married, but they eventually had an amicable split and filed for divorce in late 2016.
