Gossip guru Perez Hilton (whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr.) has signed-on to star as a celebrity participant for MTV's new Dancing with the Stars-like Rapping with the Stars reality competition series, Broadcasting & Cable, citing a MTV source, reported Monday.

In addition, Broadcasting & Cable reported former Baywatch and The Real Gilligan's Island beauty Nicole Eggert and teen pop star and former House of Carters star Nick Carter may also part of Rapping with the Stars' celebrity cast, however MTV was unable to confirm their participation.

Although no specifics have been formally announced yet, Rapping with the Stars will reportedly feature pairs pitted against one another in a series of different rap-oriented musical challenges and critiqued by a judging panel of hip-hop experts.

Back in May, Daily Variety reported that MTV was negotiating with E! News anchor Giuliana DePandi (original The Apprentice winner Bill Rancic's fiancee) and Kimber Rickabaugh and Paul Miller from RickMills Productions and 3Arts Entertainment.  Although Variety failed to specify exactly what person's Rapping with the Stars role would be, DePandi would presumably host the series while Rickabaugh and Miller produced it.

Rapping with the Stars is scheduled to premiere later this year, according to Broadcasting & Cable.  No debut date has been announced.
