CBS has announced that it has ordered two more The Amazing Race editions for broadcast during the 2006-2007 television season.

Although CBS had already previously authorized the show's producers to begin casting for The Amazing Race 10, yesterday's announcement -- included as part of a massive renewal announcement in which CBS announced it was giving 2006-2007 full-season pickups to fourteen of its most popular television programs -- marks the network's first official confirmation that The Amazing Race will remain part of its 2006-2007 broadcast schedule.

CBS' announcement of its The Amazing Race 10 and 11 order also brings an abrupt end to any nascent whispers that given the disappointing ratings performance for last season's The Amazing Race: Family Edition and the network's recent decision to move the show's just-debuted ninth edition to the later Tuesdays at 10PM time period, the future of the three-time Emmy Award-winning reality series may be in doubt.

In addition to The Amazing Race, the thirteen other CBS television programs that received early full season pickups for the 2006-2007 were 60 Minutes, Cold Case, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Criminal Minds, Ghost Whisperer, How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, Numb3rs, Survivor, Two And A Half Men, and Without A Trace.

CBS had previously announced Surivor's 2006-2007 television season pickup in November. The network is expected to announce its full fall schedule in May.
