On Monday night the American Idol fourth-season champ returned to Nashville for the sixth annual CMT Music Awards and was recognized for Video of the Year as well as Female Video of the Year, both for "Before He Cheats."

"It was at the CMT Awards last year that I gave my very first acceptance speech ever. Let me tell you, it's great to be up here again," said Underwood upon receiving the award for Video of the Year.  "Thank you, fans. I've had such an amazing, blessed two years. I started out on a fan-based show, and you guys have continued to support me throughout everything."

Underwood's "Before He Cheats" defeated "A Little Too Late" by Toby Keith; "Not Ready to Make Nice" by the Dixie Chicks; "Once in a Lifetime" by Keith Urban; "The Seashores of Old Mexico" by George Strait; "Want To" by Sugarland; "What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts; and "You Save Me" by Kenny Chesney to win Video of the Year.

In addition, "Before He Cheats" bested "California Girls" by Gretchen Wilson; "Stealing Kisses" by Faith Hill; and "You'll Always Be My Baby" by former Dancing with the Stars participant Sara Evans to win Female Video of the Year.

"Fans, once again, thank you guys so much. You've been so wonderful to me. Everybody at the fan club, you guys are amazing," said Underwood upon receiving the Female Video of the Year award.

Former fifth season Idol finalist Kellie Pickler's "Red High Heels" was nominated for Breakthrough Video of the Year, but the award was given to Taylor Swift for  "Tim McGraw."  Underwood won last year's CMT Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year with "Jesus Take the Wheel."

Broadcast live from Nashville's Curb Event Center at Belmont University, the CMT Awards honor country music's most outstanding music videos and is the genre's only fan-voted awards.
