Bravo has officially announced that it has renewed its top-rated Top Chef reality cooking series for a sixth season.

Similar to previous seasons, Top Chef's sixth season will continue to feature a group of "cheftestants" competing for a grand prize to help them open their own restaurant.

In addition to announcing the renewal, Bravo also confirmed that Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, lead judge Tom Colicchio and judges Gail Simmons and Toby Young will all reprise their roles for the show's sixth season.

Top Chef's renewal comes as little surprise.  In addition to ranking as the top-rated series at the now Project Runway-less network, Bravo had already announced open casting call dates and locations for the new season in February.

Top Chef: New York, the show's fifth season, aired its finale in February. It ranked as the show's highest rated season yet and averaged nearly four million overall viewers throughout its 14-episode run.

Top Chef is produced by former Project Runway producers Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz and their Magical Elves production company.
