The tentatively-titled reality series -- which represents Bravo's first-ever music-themed reality competition series -- will follow the contestants as they compete in various songwriting challenges.

Each episode will feature the challenge's winner having his or her song being performed by a special guest star Bravo is billing as "some of the hottest singers today."

Hitmakers is being developed by True Entertainment, with Steven Weinstock, Glenda Hersh, Tim Bogart and Evan Bogart serving as executive producers.

Bravo announced Hitmakers as part of a larger announcement in which the network unveiled plans to expand to an unspecified fifth night of original programming and film all future programming in high-definition.

In addition, the network also announced the pickup of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the sixth edition of its The Real Housewives franchise; the renewals of The Fashion Show, Million Dollar Listing and Salon Takeover; the pickup of new docu-dramas Miami Social Club, Million Dollar Decorators and Pregnant In Heels; and the development of four additional reality projects -- including a docu-reality series starring former So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Mia Michaels.
