Big Brother's Head of Household Vanessa Rousso named a replacement nominee on the chopping block after James Huling won the Power of Veto during Wednesday night's broadcast on CBS.

On Day 72, Vanessa explained she had nominated James and Meg Maley for eviction because they are a strong couple in the game and were working on the other side of the house. Vanessa didn't feel they were on her side, and putting them on the block ensured the least amount of blood on her hands.

Vanessa talked to James after the Nomination Ceremony and said she had no specific target and her decision was nothing personal.

James and Meg talked about the outcome of the meeting and Meg pointed out that four weeks ago, they opted to keep Vanessa in the game instead of Shelli Poole when the girls were on the block together. Meg said that choice had come back to haunt her. She had never gone after Vanessa, so it frustrated Meg.

Vanessa had a side alliance going on with Steve Moses and John McGuire, but her main alliance was with Austin Matelson, Liz Nolan and Julia Nolan. Vanessa therefore had a couple Final 5 deals. She figured it'd be a longshot to get rid of Meg so it made more sense to target James this week.

The players who participated in the Power of Veto competition were Vanessa, Meg, James, Julia, Liz and Austin.

Meg and James knew there was no chance any member of "Austin's Angels" alliance would use the veto on either of them because it eliminated the possibility of them being backdoored. James noted if he didn't win the veto competition, he deserved to go home.

For the PoV competition, each player had to hide a veto card somewhere smart in the Big Brother house. The players then had to frantically search for the cards, basically ransacking the house and turning it upside down. The last card to be found would win the person it belonged to the veto. No one knew who owned each card.

In the end, James won the PoV, which was the worst case possible for Vanessa. Vanessa realized James would take himself off the block, and if he won HoH next week, he'd definitely nominate her for eviction.

Vanessa needed to pick a pawn who would ensure Meg's ouster, but it was going to be tough for Meg to get votes since she never won competitions and wasn't really a threat except for her likable social game. Everyone else in the house was a better target.

Austin then talked to James, hoping that James didn't feel played by him and still trusted him. Jason felt they were good and admitted he wanted to target Vanessa.

Vanessa asked Julia if she was okay with going up on the block as a pawn because no one would probably vote her out. Although Vanessa didn't view her as a threat, Julia worried the house might want to split up the twins. Austin and the twins wanted Vanessa to put John on the block, but she thought it was in her best interest to keep John in the game as an ally.

Prior to the Veto Meeting, James tried to talk Vanessa into keeping Meg, but instead, he blurted out that she was playing the game too hard and pissed her off. Vanessa said the more James made her angry, the more likely she was to take out his queen in Meg.

Once the Veto Meeting commenced, James -- as expected -- used it on himself. Vanessa then had to name a replacement nominee and she picked Julia, explaining that it was her best possible game move.

Vanessa was determined to get rid of Meg because James was going after her, and leaving James' No. 1 ally in the game was a terrible idea. James, on the other hand, hoped to rally votes to take out Julia. He felt it's necessary to break up "Austin's Angels."
