Big Brother houseguests Liz Nolan and Austin Matelson have split.

Nolan, who finished as the runner-up of Big Brother's seventeenth season, made the announcement last week on Twitter through a post directed at her fans.

"Thank you for following Austin and I on our crazy/incredible/special journey, & as we navigated life outside the Big Brother house. Unfortunately, yes, Austin and I ended the relationship. I have nothing but the utmost respect and love for him, and just as our #liztin romance began in the BB house -- we started out as friends and I hope we can remain the same. Love y'all," Nolan tweeted.

After meeting, kissing and making their relationship official on Big Brother 17, Nolan and Matelson continued their romance outside of the house. Matelson told TMZ in September that he and Nolan were exclusively dating and had met each other's families. Nolan had also been planning to move from Miami, FL, to Los Angeles, CA, to be closer to him.

While many Big Brother fans were excited for the couple, Matelson received his share of hate. He entered the Big Brother house with a girlfriend and got involved with Nolan before officially dumping her. Matelson got called a "disgusting cheater" and "classless" for basically throwing away his prior relationship on national television.

Nolan was well aware of the fact Matelson had a girl back home, but she told the cameras on a few different occasions she didn't really care -- as long as Matelson committed himself to her and intended to leave his past where it belonged. Still, it was a little awkward.

Nolan walked away with $50,000 at the end of Big Brother, losing to Steve Moses via a 6-3 jury vote. Matelson got evicted from the house after his closest ally, Vanessa Rousso, betrayed him when she was afforded the chance to determine the Final 4.
