Xzibit to guest star in upcoming episode of new 'Detroit 1-8-7' drama

Recording artist, actor and TV personality Xzibit has signed up to guest star in an upcoming episode of the new drama, "Detroit 1-8-7," ABC said Thursday.

The show is to premiere Sept. 21.

"Xzibit will portray hustler turned businessman Russell Pitts, who is a record producer specializing in hip-hop artists.

Hailing from Detroit, Xzibit's role reflects the series producers' ongoing effort to showcase local Detroit talent," ABC said in a news release.

"Detroit 1-8-7" stars Michael Imperioli as Detective Louis Fitch, James McDaniel as Sgt. Jesse Longford, Aisha Hinds as Lt. Maureen Mason, D.J. Cotrona as Detective John Stone, Jon Michael Hill as Detective Damon Washington, Shaun Majumder as Detective Vikram Mahajan, Natalie Martinez as Detective Ariana Sanchez and Erin Cummings as Dr. Abbey Ward.
