The Family Chantel featured Pedro Jimeno accusing Chantel Everett of trying to save her ass and make him look like a clown and Chantel's mother Karen Everett speculating Pedro had been using Chantel for years for a life in the United States during the Season 4 episode that aired Monday night on TLC.

"What are you doing here?" Pedro asked, which was the cliffhanger from last week's episode.
"I wanted to tell you... that I'm here to speak to your mother to fix things," Chantel said.
Chantel told Pedro that she wanted to make an effort with his family like he had done with hers, and she pointed out how Lidia was now on their side and wanted their relationship to work out.
Pedro said his mother doesn't decide for him, but Chantel insisted that her intentions were pure. Pedro snapped back, saying that he didn't care and his wife had lied to him about her whereabouts.
Pedro complained about how Chantel had only told her side of the story, but Chantel said she didn't know his side because he refused to talk to her. Pedro countered with how Chantel had accused him of cheating and not being supportive.
Pedro told the cameras that Chantel never heard or listened to him, and while he told her what he needed and wanted from her, she allegedly never delivered or just didn't care.
Chantel repeated her motive for traveling to the Dominican Republic, but Pedro said it was "low" for Chantel to try to buy Lidia's friendship with Gucci sunglasses. Chantel insisted that was a gift from her heart and wanted to follow Pedro's example.
But Pedro believed Chantel was trying to take advantage of the situation since she had waited five years to try to fix her relationship with his mother. Pedro thought Chantel was just spreading their problems to other people, which made things worse.
"I am a woman who is willing to do anything to save my marriage, including come to a different country to a mother-in-law who doesn't like me to try to make things better," Chantel said. "I thought that you would see this as something good."

Pedro told Chantel that once he told Lidia his side of the story, she'd probably stop believing in them.
Chantel said this was the only way she could get Pedro's attention, by doing something "drastic."
Pedro wanted to end the conversation, but Chantel begged him to stay and talk to her. Chantel therefore grabbed Pedro's passport away from him, which seemed to anger him even more.
After Nicole Jimeno was shown venting to her best friend Coraima about Chantel and Pedro's marriage and then Coraima admitted she may still be interested in dating Pedro if he became single again, Chantel's mother Karen Everett wondered if Pedro was starting to treat Chantel badly so he could leave her now that he has a green card and steady job.
Karen believes that when many men move to the U.S. from different countries to get married, they hold out in the marriage for three years to get the green card. However, she said a man may wait five years to make it look like the union wasn't a scam.
"It's hard to fathom that the son-in-law I have come to love would be capable of turning 360 on my daughter, using her, just like I originally thought he was doing," Karen said in a confessional.
"It's hard for me to fathom that a person is that manipulative and evil. Because who would believe that a marriage is fake if a person has stayed in it for six or seven years?"

Back in the Dominican Republic, Pedro scolded Chantel for acting like a child, not a woman.
Pedro said he wanted to talk to his mother before he spoke to Chantel about the situation any further, and so Chantel unwillingly let him go.
Chantel cried and told Pedro in the hotel lobby that everything she had done was out of love, and then she walked away from him. Chantel proceeded to return to her room and close the door, and Pedro admitted that his relationship was "draining" at this point.

Pedro said Chantel talking to his mother was the wrong way to go about fixing their problems, unless she said she wanted to change and would be willing to start fresh.
"But she only wanted to save her ass, trying to make things right for her and make me look like a clown," Pedro lamented in a confessional.
Pedro was then shown sitting down with Lidia to share his side of the story. Pedro said Chantel was driving him crazy. He recalled how he had done all of the cooking and cleaning for years while Chantel was in nursing school and he worked in a warehouse.
Pedro said he spent years trying to make Chantel a better person and when he asked her to cook and clean for him now that he's working in real estate, she got upset. Pedro shared how Chantel only worked three days a week and hadn't supported him at all.
Pedro told the cameras how Chantel could rest for three days after working and then do housework on her fourth day off but she just wanted "to be sleepy and have vacations."
Lidia called Chantel an insecure woman, alleging how Chantel didn't want him to grow into an independent man. Lidia said Chantel was trying to turn Pedro into a "wimp" like Chantel's father, suggesting that Karen wears the pants in that relationship.
Pedro noted how he wants to achieve things in life and Chantel was essentially holding him back. Lidia wanted Chantel to affirm in front of Pedro what she had told her, and Lidia still thought there was hope to restore the relationship because he didn't like the idea of Pedro living in the U.S. alone without a partner.
When Pedro confronted Chantel in her room, Chantel said she never meant any harm by visiting his mother and if he didn't believe her then that was fine.

They were staying in separate rooms in the same hotel, and Chantel simply threw her arms up in the air, calling the situation "ridiculous."
Pedro asked Chantel if she'd sit down with Lidia and himself the next day, and she agreed. Pedro said his relationship with Chantel didn't feel the same and he didn't feel respected.
Pedro hoped his mother would be impartial and help with his decision of whether to leave Chantel.
The episode concluded with Pedro meeting with Nicole and Nicole apologizing for her bad behavior during his last visit and saying she'd always be there for him.
Nicole told her brother that Chantel didn't deserve him and he should get a divorce, and Pedro confirmed that he was thinking about a separation. Nicole said the only problem between Pedro and herself would be his constant belief in Chantel.
"He needs to leave that woman and never look back," Nicole said.
