The self-titled "First Network For Men" is quickly turning out to have quite an appetite for unscripted television programming. Already airing dating show "Blind Date," having just premiered "The Joe Schmo Show" last week, and announced earlier this week that was giving second life to the cancelled "Shipmates" program, Spike TV has now announced plans for a professional racing circuit reality show titled "The Reality of Speed."

According to a Zap2It.com report, "The Reality of Speed" will premiere in January 2004 and offer a glance at the riders, driver and team members of the Holigan Racing teams competing in the AMA Supercross Series and the NASCAR Busch Series. Holigan Walters Racing, LP is a new AMA Supercross team formed by Michael Holigan, Dave Walters, and Robert Nichols. Each episode will be centered around a particular upcoming race and follow the day-to-day preparations leading up to that week's race. The show is produced by Michael Holigan in association with Television Marketing Partners.

"Spike TV is going to take sports fans where they have never been before, into the fascinating daily lives of these fearless professional athletes" Kevin Kay, Spike TV's executive vice president of production and development told Zap2It.
