Pamela Pettler is writing the live-action script for Sony Pictures Entertainment, Daily Variety reported Tuesday.
"The Wee Free Men" sends an 9-year-old girl into a parallel world where her brother is being held captive by a mean queen, Variety said. She encounters numerous challenges as she battles monsters and bonds with the "Wee Free Men," tiny blue-faced kilt-wearing, heavy drinking rowdies.
Pettler co-wrote "Tim Burton's Corpse Bride" and "Monster House" and is currently working on the script for "9" for Burton.
