Speculation swirls around 'Dallas' big screen movie cast

Speculation is mounting in Hollywood about casting for the upcoming big screen treatment of the popular 1980s TV show "Dallas."
Among the leading contenders to play Larry Hagman's J.R. Ewing are John Travolta, Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner and Tommy Lee Jones, Daily Variety said Wednesday.
Most mentioned for the part of Sue Ellen, the the long-suffering oil baron's wife played on TV by Linda Gray, are Catherine Zeta-Jones, Demi Moore and Jennifer Lopez, Variety said.
Patrick Duffy's role of good guy Bobby Ewing could be played by either Matthew McConaughey or Owen Wilson and his wife Pamela, played on TV by Victoria Principal, could end up with either Drew Barrymore or Reese Witherspoon.
As for Lucy, played by Charlene Tilton, speculation points to Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson or Mandy Moore.
Jane Fonda has been mentioned for the role of Ewing family matriarch, Miss Ellie, Variety said.
Robert Luketic has been tapped to direct.
