U.S. celebrity couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are on a public relations offensive, but it may not succeed, a report says.

Cruise and Holmes staged lunches with their mothers this past week at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, posing for photographers. The film stars also visited high-profile restaurants, late-night TV shows and were pictured in a 22-page feature story in Vanity Fair, TMZ.com reported.

But Cruise has alienated many opinion-makers in Hollywood with his public criticism of particular pharmaceuticals. Many of them are unwilling to change their assessment based on his latest personal image campaign, TMZ.com reported.
