Quentin Tarantino awarded Prix Lumiere for cinematic work

UPI News Service, 10/19/2013

Quentin Tarantino received the Prix Lumiere for his body of cinematic work Friday at the Lumiere film festival in Lyon, France, organizers said.

Longtime Tarantino collaborators Harvey Weinstein, Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel and Tim Roth were on hand as the director accepted the award at an event held Friday night.

Later that evening, he was awarded the Commander of Arts and Letters by French culture minister Aurelie Filippetti, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Working with Quentin is like reading a great novel or hearing a great symphony or piece of music -- it changes you. You don't know how, but it has," Keitel said during the presentation of the Prix Lumiere.

"I have always thought of myself as a lone wolf, but always because I never really had a family, but these people are my family. Their affection and respect is all I ever want," Tarantino said just before Thurman handed him the award.
