As of Jan. 1, Trio will become an Internet-only service and disappear from cable lineups across the country, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
Trio, with the slogan: "Pop, Culture. TV," was acquired by NBC in the deal with Universal two years ago.
Most of its fare included reruns such as "Cop Rock," "Pink Lady & Jeff," vintage David Letterman shows and "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In."
NBC earlier announced the formation of a new cable channel, Sleuth, specializing in crime TV shows.
