Airris and Jasmine were initially very hopeful about their future together, but then Airris realized during his honeymoon that he wasn't physically attracted to Jasmine. However, neither spouse was willing to give up.

One month into marriage, Airris told Jasmine on Married at First Sight's sixteenth season that he didn't want to have sex, or even think about them having sex, until after Decision Day so the pair could just focus on finding similarities and building an emotional connection.

During the March 22 episode of Married at First Sight: Afterparty, Jasmine shared, "I honestly am okay with no sex until after Decision Day."

"Although I am attracted to him, I ain't got no undeniable, like, [urge]. I ain't running to him or anything like that," Jasmine explained. "So it's, like, I don't really have that desire right now either."

So when Airris suggested they should stop worrying about consummating their marriage, Jasmine recalled, "I was totally okay with that."

Jasmine revealed, however, there was very little intimacy in her marriage to Airris. The pair apparently greeted each other with a hug.

And Jasmine added, "Every now and then we'll hold hands. But we're not kissing anymore."

Jasmine gave her marriage at all since the start of the Married at First Sight process, but on the latest Season 16 episode, it was clear Jasmine was beginning to shut down.

Jasmine struggled to share stories about herself or reveal personal information, even when prompted by fishbowl-exercise questions about shame, insecurity and trauma.

When asked what it would take for Jasmine to get back to the mindset of being open and vulnerable again with Airris, Jasmine shared, "He's going to have to reassure me. He's going to have to make me feel reassured."

Jasmine said Airris could reassure her through his actions "more so than words."

"It's just a feeling for me. I need to feel like I'm in a safe space," Jasmine said.

Airris admitted on last week's episode that he was "afraid" of intimacy with his wife.

"I'm afraid because I've had past situations where, like, sex kind of ruined things," Airris confessed to Afterparty host Keshia Knight Pulliam.

"I don't think that's fair to [Jasmine], just to do it because."

Airris, a self-declared "sexual person" with extensive experience in the bedroom -- including a long list of sexual partners and multiple orgies -- suggested he was being careful with Jasmine's feelings and was walking on eggshells with her as a result.

Airris, who had never been in love before and also cheated on his only serious girlfriend, decided to adopt a different approach in his relationship with Jasmine hoping for a successful outcome this time around.

Airris said of his approach to take sex off the table, "[I wanted] to get it out into the open and to stop getting asked about it."

"I feel like even for her, she was going, 'Maybe he'll come around this week. Maybe he'll come around [next] week.' So it was kind of like, 'Let's put it on the back burner and focus on the things that are good,'" he explained.

Airris admitted on the show that he didn't feel like "the best person in the world" when telling his wife that he wasn't physically attracted to her.

Airris insisted he didn't think Jasmine was "ugly" but she's certainly "not my normal type."

Airris said, looks aside, maybe he'd be attracted to Jasmine if she was "hella funny" or had sexy unique style, but he said she wasn't doing or saying anything special to change his perspective of her.

Airris hoped to fall for Jasmine by finding similar interests and going out on fun dates, but Jasmine seemed to be running out of hope with three weeks to go until Decision Day.
