INXS' post-Rock Star career with new lead singer J.D. Fortune has gotten off to a strong start, with "Pretty Vegas," the band's first new song, debuting in last week's Billboard Top 40 chart.

"Pretty Vegas," which Fortune co-wrote with INXS guitarist Andrew Farriss while competing on Rock Star: INXS, entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #37, the band's best debut ever and its first Hot 100 appearance in twelve and a half years.

Billboard's Hot 100 chart measures the popularity of singles via a combination of both radio airplay and sales data, including paid online downloads.

According to Reuters, "Vegas'" debut comes nearly 23 years after the release of INXS' first chart single, "The One Thing," which peaked at #30 in 1983. Although the band has recorded numerous Top 10 hits over the years, it's only ever had one #1 song -- "Need You Tonight" in 1988.

"Switch," the group's debut album with Fortune, will be released on November 29 by Epic Records. "Switched On," the group's new world tour that will feature Rock Star runner-up Marty Casey and his The Lovehammers band opening for INXS, will kick off January 18 in Vancouver.
