A bus driver for the Dave Matthews Band was fined $10,000 and sentenced to 18 months probation for dumping liquid human waste on a Chicago tour boat.
Stefan Wohl admitted guilt as he and his lawyer appeared before a judge in Chicago Wednesday. The $10,000 fine will be donated to Friends of the Chicago River.
The Matthews Band donated $100,000 to the conservation group and the Chicago Park District last year.
Wohl, who no longer drives for the Dave Matthews Band, will be permitted to drive across state lines but must complete 150 hours of community service in his home state of Texas, WLS-TV, Chicago, said.
Wohl and the band face civil suits filed by people doused with about 800 pounds of foul-smelling, liquid brownish-yellow waste Aug. 8, 2004 as an architectural cruise aboard Chicago's Little Lady passed under the Kinzie Street Bridge.
An assistant state's attorney said none of the passengers suffered bacterial infections or diseases.
