Christine Sherrer, Gallagher's promotional manager, told the (Rochester) Post-Bulletin the 64-year-old prop comic is undergoing tests at the Mayo Clinic's Saint Marys Hospital.
Doctors have not determined what caused him to collapse Thursday during his trademark "Sledge-O-Matic" act, in which he smashes a variety of items -- some of them wet and messy -- with a large wooden mallet, the newspaper said.
"He is stable and awake. ... They're still doing testing, but he is OK right now," Sherrer told the Post-Bulletin. "He's in good spirits and laughing."
Gallagher's weekend shows in Vernon Hills, Ill., have been canceled.
