Elton John and Bernie Taupin's new Broadway musical "Lestat" has signed "Phantom" Hugh Panaro to star as the chief vampire.

Panaro, currently playing the title role in "The Phantom of the Opera," will be joined by Jack Noseworthy and Jim Stanek in the new show based on Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles," Daily Variety reported Wednesday.

The cast will also include Roderick Hill, Michael Genet, Allison Fischer and Carolee Carmello as the female lead, Gabrielle.

The musical will make its world premiere in San Francisco in December and move to Broadway in the spring.
