Britney Spears' publicist has denied reports claiming the U.S. pop star's boyfriend, Jason Trawick, physically abused her.

America's Star magazine reported Trawick hit the singer, and other outlets picked up the story. The Spears camp says it told the tabloid newspaper the report wasn't true but the magazine went ahead and published it.
"Suffice it to say, Jason Trawick has never laid a hand on Britney," the representative said in a statement issued to TMZ. "This is just another example of the irresponsible nature of the tabloid media relying on shoddy sources and false information for the sole purpose of selling magazines, without regard to the truth and without regard to who they hurt in the process."
The publicist said remarks attributed to Spears's ex-husband Jason Alexander about allegations of abuse "are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr. Alexander in years."
"These irresponsible statements are defamatory and Britney Spears's legal team will be taking legal action against all of the appropriate parties," the publicist said in the statement.
