Andie MacDowell to co-star in remake of 'Footloose' dance movie

Andie MacDowell has joined the cast of "Footloose," a musical remake of the 1984 classic teen film, EW.com reported.

Best known for her work in "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and "Green Card," the actress is to play Vi, the kind-hearted wife of a minister who bans dancing in his small town.

Dennis Quaid is to play the clergyman, while cinematic newcomers Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough are to play the young leads in the film, which is set for release next spring.

MacDowell and Quaid previously played husband and wife in the 2001 TV movie "Dinner with Friends," EW.com noted.
