VH1 has announced that Shooting Sizemore, a new reality series that follows Saving Private Ryan star Tom Sizemore's attempt to save himself from a myriad of drug addictions and legal woes, will premiere on Sunday, January 7 at 10:30PM ET/PT.

Shooting Sizemore will follow the actor turned addict as he leaves rehab and tries to put his life back together after methamphetamine and heroin addiction forced him into bankruptcy and off of Hollywood's A-list.  Accompanying Sizemore on his journey will be his personal assistant Luree, one of the few people who's stuck beside him despite the downward spiral he's trying to pull himself out of.

After working with Oliver Stone, Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott and racking up film credits that included roles in Wyatt Earp, Natural Born Killers, Saving Private Ryan and Blackhawk Down, Sizemore ran into a slew of problems.  In 2003 he was convicted of  domestic violence after hitting his girlfriend, "Hollywood Madam" Heidi Fleiss.  In 2004, he pleaded guilty to methamphetamine possession.  In 2005, he was accused of wearing a fake penis called the "Whizonator" to pass a drug test and also claimed to have a sexual relationship with Paris Hilton on his X-rated DVD Tom Sizemore Sex Scandal.  After several parole violations, Sizemore was sent to rehab as recently as February 2006.

Mixed in with the docu-reality series will be pointed flashbacks of Sizemore's own never-before-seen personal footage spanning the last few years, which includes the actor filming himself while on drugs and dealing with paranoia and rage.  The black-and-white, grainy handheld footage reveals some of Sizemore's innermost thoughts and fears while he was battling drug addiction.

The story of Sizemore trying to return to the top of Hollywood while still being a committed father to his twin children has been a long-time coming, as the actor has been shopping the idea since September 2005 when he was in a drug treatment center in California.  VH1 picked the show up in August 2006.

"You literally watch a man come unglued and unraveled from his own point of view," said VH1 Senior Vice President Jeff Olde about Sizemore. "He lays it all out there."

Shooting Sizemore is a production of VH1 in conjunction with Tijuana Entertainment. Troy Searer and John Foy serve as executive producers for Tijuana.  Olde, Jill Holmes, Damla Dogan, Stella Stolper and Alex Demyanenko are executive producers for VH1 with Michael Hirschorn also serving as executive producer.
