TLC has announced Holmes on Homes, a home renovation series starring construction and renovation expert Mike Holmes that previously aired on Discovery Home, will make its TLC debut on Saturday, June 28.

Each Holmes on Homes episode begins with Holmes visiting an unlucky family who has been swindled or abandoned during their home improvement projects.  Once there, he and his team uncover the shoddy construction methods and improper techniques that the homeowners' earlier contractor used and re-do and complete the job correctly.

Along the way, Holmes also explains how homeowners can safeguard themselves from dishonest contractors and provides viewers with some lessons they can use for their own home renovation projects -- such as the importance of a good contract, proper payment terms and what good craftsmanship should really look like.

"As more people focus on renovating the homes they have, instead of moving to new ones, it's important to be informed and aware of the 'right' way to tackle any construction project," said Holmes. "Through the experiences and stories of the homeowners on the show, viewers can avoid unexpected disasters and big headaches."

Holmes on Homes previously aired on TLC's sister Discovery Home network, however Discovery Communications replaced Discovery Home with the new environmentally-themed Planet Green network earlier this month.

In addition to Holmes on Homes, TLC announced it will begin airing classic Trading Spaces episodes beginning July 12.  Host Paige Davis will discuss her favorite moments from the show's archives and give viewers insight on what happens behind-the-scenes.
