The Voice eliminated a whopping 12 hopefuls and therefore determined the tenth season's Top 12 artists during Wednesday night's live broadcast on NBC.

Following Monday and Tuesday night's performance shows, home viewers voted for their favorite artists when six hopefuls remained on each of the four teams. And then last night, the two artists on each team who received the most votes automatically advanced to the next round.

The coaches were then forced to choose one artist on his or team to keep around when a total of four remained, ultimately eliminating three team members.

On Pharrell Williams' team, America voted for Hannah Huston and Daniel Passino to continue on in the competition. Pharrell then had to decide whether he wanted to advance Caity Peters, Emily Keener, Lacy Mandigo or Moushimi.

The coach opted for Emily to stay out of the bottom four because she sings beyond her years and has the ability to transport the audience through time.

For Blake Shelton's team, Mary Sarah and Adam Wakeville were declared safe based on the home viewer vote. Blake then had to determine whether he'd prefer Joe Maye, Justin Whisnant, Katie Basden or Paxton Ingram to remain in the competition.

Blake wanted to keep Paxton on his team because he's believed in the singer since the beginning of the show.

Christina Aguilera's team members Alisan Porter and Nick Hagelin automatically advanced. Christina must've been a little surprised by Nick's success considering he was her team's "comeback artist" and both Bryan Bautista and Ryan Quinn had received standing ovations from all four coaches for their performances earlier in the week.

Christina therefore had a tough choice when looking at Bryan, Ryan, Kata Hay and Tamar Davis. The coach opted to keep Bryan on her team because he is the person America has really been responding to.

America voted for Shalyah Fearing and Laith Al-Saadi to automatically advance on Adam Levine's team. Adam was then left to decide whether he wanted to save Nate Butler, Caroline Burns, Brian Nhira or Owen Danoff.

Without much explanation and under a time crunch, Adam opted to move forward in the competition with Owen.
