Garry George Johnson, The Time and The Family drummer-guitarist known as Jellybean Johnson, has died at the age of 69.

The family of the Prince collaborator and co-founder of the Minneapolis Sound Museum confirmed his Friday night death to TMZ.

Deadline.com said the cause was not known as of Saturday.

Johnson's friend and fellow musician Sheila E. took to social media to mourn his passing.

"We love u my beautiful brother. Thank u for ALL u have given us. @jellybean_johnson_ #jellybean #TheTime #DRUMMER #MinneapolisSound #Prince," Sheila E. wrote on Facebook Saturday.

Johnson appeared in two of Prince's movies, Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge.

He released his first solo album, Get Experienced, in 2021 and also performed with with or produced records for Janet Jackson, Patti LaBelle, Human League, New Edition, Cherrelle, Alexander O'Neal, New Edition and Rihanna during his storied career.

Johnson and the other members of The Time were presented with the Soul Train Life Achievement Award in 2022.
