The Golden Bachelorette's Season 2 star Joan Vassos is apparently disappointed in how Season 1 couple, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, have been handling their breakup in the media.

"I'm sad by the whole thing," Joan recently told Us Weekly when asked about Gerry and Theresa's back and forth sparring in the media.

Once Gerry and Theresa finalized their divorce in June following a shocking three-month marriage, the dust seemed to settle -- until Gerry began promoting his Golden Years memoir prior to its November release.

Gerry repeatedly slammed Theresa in his book and blamed her for their failed relationship, prompting Theresa to defend herself.

Not only did Theresa call Gerry's memoir allegations "fiction," but she also alleged he has a terrible temper and had mistreated her.

"Their breakup wasn't perfect, but it had taken a backseat, you know, was not in the news anymore, and that just brought it all back up to the surface," Joan said.

While speaking about Gerry's memoir during a November appearance on the "Dear Shandy" podcast, Theresa claimed Gerry once joked about chopping up her body and hiding the parts in a shed near his lake house in Indiana.

"We took a walk around this lake called Pretty Lake and we were coming to the end of it and he said... 'You see that shed up there?' I said, 'Yeah.' He said, 'Well, that's where I'm going to hide your body after I kill you and chop you up,'" Theresa alleged.

Theresa claimed Gerry "wasn't laughing" when he said that, and she added, "I just felt like there was animosity in that statement that was underlying, like, maybe if he could've gotten rid of me somehow."

Referencing that particular shed story, Joan shared, "Conversations like, 'That's where I'll put you if I murdered you,' that was just funny."

"I think it was said in jest," she continued, "and then it just got blown out."

Joan therefore reiterated how she's displeased with the aftermath of Gerry and Theresa's split.

"Honestly, I feel like we should be more dignified. And at our age, we shouldn't be doing this to each other, and I'm sorry that it went down that [way]," Joan concluded.

Gerry had proposed marriage to Theresa on The Golden Bachelor's Season 1 finale, which aired in November 2023, and then they rushed to tie the knot on January 4, 2024 for a live televised wedding special on ABC.

Gerry and Theresa announced their split in April 2024, and Gerry filed for divorce that same month.

At the time, Gerry and Theresa claimed distance was a major factor in their split given Gerry is retired in Indiana and Theresa is still working her finance job in New Jersey.

But then Gerry wrote in his book that he and Theresa weren't compatible and she wasn't willing to quit her job and travel with him.

Gerry also admitted he felt "trapped" into marrying Theresa and that she rejected physical intimacy with him. (Theresa later claimed the intimacy issues were on Gerry's end).

For Theresa's part, she claimed on the "Dear Shandy" podcast that Gerry would lash out at her over every little thing he believed she had done wrong.

"Overall, Gerry called me names. He criticized me. He put me down. At one point, he said, 'I don't want to hear your opinion. I don't want to hear if you have any other ideas,'" Theresa alleged.

Theresa also claimed that Gerry had called her "manipulative" and "an East coast snob."

Gerry has since moved on and he's currently engaged to retired Indiana school teacher Lana Sutton.

Joan and her The Golden Bachelorette winner, Chock Chapple, meanwhile appear to still be happily engaged.

Joan told Us that they're in no rush to tie the knot but they've been spending the holidays together in New York.
