The Golden Bachelor alum Theresa Nist has claimed Gerry Turner once joked about chopping up her body and hiding the parts in a shed near his lake house in Indiana.

When talking about possible skeletons in Gerry's closet, Theresa shared an eyebrow-raising story during the Tuesday, November 4 episode of the "Dear Shandy" podcast.

"He said all season long that he had bodies under the floor boards," the podcast's host Sharleen Joynt recalled to Theresa with a laugh.

"Okay, so do you want me to tell you a story similar to that?" Theresa, 72, began.

"I finally went to his house and we took a walk around this lake called Pretty Lake and we were coming to the end of it and he said -- this is really bizarre."

Theresa continued, "He said, 'You see that shed up there?' I said, 'Yeah.' He said, 'Well, that's where I'm going to hide your body after I kill you and chop you up.'"

Theresa claimed, however, that "he wasn't laughing" when he told her that.

"I said, 'Well, if this was his idea of a joke, that was pretty dark humor,'" Theresa shared.

Theresa therefore wondered if Gerry was secretly feeling resentful or bitter about their relationship.

"I just felt like there was animosity in that statement that was underlying, like, maybe if he could've gotten rid of me somehow," Theresa noted.

"I don't think he would have killed me. No, I don't think that was true. It wasn't true. It's not true, but it just spoke to an underlying feeling about me."

Sharleen pointed out how Gerry claimed in his book, Golden Years: What I've Learned From Love, Loss, and Reality TV -- which just hit shelves on November 4 -- that Theresa doesn't share his sense of humor.

"He seems to think you have no sense of humor and that [Leslie Fhima] had a great sense of humor and she understood his humor and vice versa," Sharleen revealed.

"Obviously that's a joke. But I know what you mean -- when someone says that and it's a joke and you're already feeling tense with them, you're just like, 'Why would you say that?!'"

Theresa concluded, "I was like, 'Umm, okay.' And Leslie thinks I have a fantastic sense of humor, by the way, and so does my daughter."

Gerry and Theresa's engagement aired on The Golden Bachelor's Season 1 finale in November 2023, and then they rushed to get married for a live televised wedding special on ABC in early January 2024.

Several months later, Gerry and Theresa announced their split, and their divorce was finalized in June 2024.

Gerry and Theresa's breakup appeared amicable, for the most part, until Gerry wrote a memoir in which he repeatedly slammed Theresa and blamed her for their failed relationship.

After reading alarming excerpts from Gerry's book, Theresa decided to share her truth.

Theresa fired back at Gerry for most of the claims in his memoir, calling them "fiction."

"Overall, Gerry called me names. He criticized me. He put me down. At one point, he said, 'I don't want to hear your opinion. I don't want to hear if you have any other ideas,'" Theresa claimed.

Theresa alleged there were "so many incidents" of Gerry "having a temper" and "getting mad at things" that she did.

Theresa apparently felt like Gerry "regretted" choosing her over Leslie during The Golden Bachelor finale and then "resented" marrying her.

(Gerry did, in fact, write in his memoir how he felt "trapped" into tying the knot with Theresa and they struggled with intimacy).

"And then any little thing that I did that he thought wasn't right, he lashed out at me," Theresa alleged.

"He said I was manipulative... He called me 'an East coast snob'... something I never even heard before... it came out of his mouth, and I didn't even know what it meant. It was apparently a disparaging thing."

Gerry has said his marriage to Theresa didn't last because they weren't compatible and she refused to quit her finance job in New Jersey and retire with him.

Theresa, however, said she didn't quit her job because there were too many "red flags" with Gerry by that point and she didn't feel safe and secure enough in the relationship to do so.
