During Peg and Mel's final days in Antigua, Peg said she didn't really know where she stood with Mel. Peg had her heart broken multiple times before, and so she said she didn't want that to happen again.
Suddenly, there was a knock on Peg's door and it was Mel, who confirmed his feelings for her hadn't changed and would never change.
"But something did change. Last night, I had my date and overnight with Cindy, and I just want to be transparent with you and tell you what happened, the result and all that," Mel told the nervous bachelorette.
"But you know how I feel about you and all that. She was asking me some questions that she wanted me to answer, and I just wasn't prepared to answer [them]. She said, 'I want you to commit to a proposal because I'm looking to get married,' and I was honest with her."
Mel therefore shared that Cindy had decided to leave before they could even spend the night together.
"Stop it! Wow!" Peg replied, clearly in shock.
"So I still want me and you. I just wasn't prepared to commit to a proposal," Mel noted.
The fact Mel couldn't answer Cindy's questions, however, made Peg nervous about whether Mel would be willing to commit to her. Peg, like Cindy, was also looking for a serious relationship and hopefully a commitment out of Mel.
Despite Peg having concerns, she agreed to continue the journey with Mel and meet his two sons.
Mel clarified in a confessional that he "never felt this way" about a woman before and he didn't want Peg to think he was progressing with her by default. Mel said he felt "lucky" to have a "special" relationship with Peg.

Peg proceeded to meet Mel's friend from the University of Michigan, Diane, and his two adult sons, Andre and Lucas, who couldn't believe one of Mel's Final 2 women had left.

Diane said she could tell that Cindy's departure was "bothering" Mel.
Peg received more insight into Mel by talking to his boys, and she was hoping this meet and greet would bring her closer to Mel.
Mel's sons said Peg seemed to be "the perfect gal" for Mel because of her uplifting energy and spirit. The guys told Mel about how they loved her and thought Mel and Peg were very compatible.
Diane, who is apparently "very influential" in Mel's life, also spoke to Peg. Peg admitted to Diane that she wasn't falling in love with Mel yet but she thought she could get there.
Diane thought Mel and Peg's energy matched, and she gushed to The Golden Bachelor star, "I think you're meant to be already!"
Mel explained how Peg was very "upbeat" and had a great personality, and Peg definitely received a stamp of approval from Mel's family.

"We are perfect for each other. I love her. I love being around her. Today is about fully committing to Peg and our future together, because I am ready. Today, I am saying yes to Peg, and I hope she says yes to me," Mel told the cameras.
When Peg and Mel were standing hand in hand, with Peg wearing a beautiful orange dress, she told The Golden Bachelor star how their journey was fun and exciting. Peg said she had met her match in Mel and she felt like she could trust him.
"But I've still got to drive the buggy," Peg quipped. "I really appreciate you showing me who you really are, and I honor that, and also for showing me that I can definitely love again. And for that, I'm grateful," Peg told Mel.
Mel shared with Peg, in turn, how he loved listening to her talk about herself and her family.
"I want to bring your family into my family. I trusted you and you trusted me. You told me you had confidence in me that I'd make the right choice, and here you are," Mel stated.
"I have something. I have a ring. And this represents our commitment to love, to give us time to figure out together what our future holds. What do you think?"

Mel presented Peg with a Neil Lane ring, but it wasn't an engagement ring. It appeared to have several small diamonds on it.
Peg smiled big and replied, "I agree! I think it will be absolutely wonderful, and we are on the same page with that."
Mel put the ring on Peg's finger, and they agreed they had found the "perfect" person in each other. With that being said, Mel offered Peg the final golden rose, and she gladly accepted it.
"I'm not for everybody. He's not for everybody. But we are definitely for each other," Peg concluded.
On the live After the Final Rose special, Mel and Peg made their public debut as a couple, and they shared a big kiss in front of the screaming studio audience.

Since Peg's ring was just a promise ring, Jesse asked Mel if there's been any talk of an official marriage proposal.
Peg shared how she and Mel were writing their own love story and doing things their own way. Peg said she and Mel were continuing to spend time with each other and their families.
"I'm in love with her. What's not to be in love with," Mel confirmed.
"And I am in love with him, 100 percent," Peg added.
Peg and Mel shared with Jesse how they have trips to Las Vegas and Michigan coming up, and then Jesse announced that ABC was gifting them a trip to wine country in Napa Valley.
Peg and Mel gushed about how they're ready to start this next chapter together.
