The Bachelor star Peter Weber has explained why he decided to give Hannah Ann Sluss, Night 1's most controversial bachelorette, the coveted First Impression Rose.

Peter opened up about the big decision during a Tuesday appearance on Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin's Bachelor Happy Hour podcast.

"We've all be there having to give [a] First Impression Rose," Rachel told Peter, referring to how both she and Becca starred on back-to-back seasons of The Bachelorette.

"Now, you gave your First Impression Rose to Hannah Ann. Why did you decide to give it to her? Because I know that there is going to be a little bit of controversy because you gave it to somebody who stole you three times. What's up with that?"

"That's honestly part of the reason," Peter said, as Rachel was simultaneously pointing out it's obvious Peter likes physical touch in a relationship.

"Oh, well do tell!" Rachel exclaimed.

"I love that. So Hannah Ann was someone [who] knew exactly what she wanted coming into this and never let me question that."

Peter said Hannah Ann was all business right "from the beginning," insisting the 23-year-old model from Knoxville, TN, was on the show for him and for love.

"She was the first person to steal me away for the first conversation. She was the first kind of normal kiss. Not from like the first entrances," Peter shared.

Peter's very first kiss of the season was when Savannah Mullins blindfolded him and boldly kissed him on the lips when he didn't see it coming.

"We clicked immediately," Peter continued of the feisty and bubbly Hannah Ann. "Just our -- yeah."

Rachel then asked Peter not to get mad at her for what she was about to say.

"I know exactly what you are going to say," Becca chimed in.

"We've only seen one episode. But you know who Hannah Ann reminds me of in the way you talk about her? Everybody say it with me now: One. Two, Three! [Luke Parker]!"

"No, not even close," Peter said, trying to shut Rachel down. "Not even close. Don't even go there."

As fans probably recall, Luke P. was very aggressive in his pursuit of Hannah Brown on Season 15 of The Bachelorette.

Luke P. swept Hannah Brown off her feet on Night 1 with a couple of steamy encounters and ended up being the frontrunner as well as the season's villain, but his elimination towards the end of the season was explosive after Hannah Brown felt shamed by the bachelor for having sex.

"I'm just saying. Listen, he took initiative," Rachel noted.

"[Hannah Ann] was intentional, but that's different," Peter said.

"She was maybe intentional. Not manipulative," Becca reasoned, which Peter seemed to agree with.

Rachel, however, reminded Peter that she was only talking about Episode 1, which is all fans have seen of Hannah Ann thus far on The Bachelor's 24th season.

"First episode it was like, 'Wow, he's really into this girl. He knows exactly what he wants. He's very intentional in exactly what he wants to do. And she feels it as well,'" Rachel recalled of Hannah Brown and Luke's interactions.

"I'm just saying. We've only seen one episode."

"Okay. Disagree, but that's fine," Peter concluded.

On The Bachelor premiere Monday night, Peter told Hannah Ann that he gave her the First Impression Rose because he loved hearing about her close family and appreciated the painting she and her father had made for him of the Great Smoky Mountains.

"I cannot believe I got the First Impression Rose," Hannah Ann gushed after accepting the rose and another kiss from Peter.

"I knew when I met him there was an instant connection and just looking in his eyes, I knew what I felt in my heart. Actually seeing it confirmed means the absolute world to me."

Peter narrowed down his initial 30 bachelorettes to 22 ladies during the three-hour premiere event.

The Bachelor will continue to air on Monday nights at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
