The Amazing Race's "Mother and Son" Sheri LaBrant and Cole LaBrant survived a non-elimination leg during Friday night's broadcast of the CBS reality competition's 28th season.

Sheri and the Vine star were declared safe from elimination after arriving at the Race's sixth Pit Stop at the Temple of Garni in Yerevan, Armenia in last place. The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan instructed the team to immediately continue racing after stepping foot on the Pit Stop mat.

"We got a second chance and we're going to give it our all," Cole said.

The Amazing Race broadcast began with "Best Friends" Tyler Oakley and Korey Kuhl leaving the fifth Pit Stop in first place at 5:28AM. "Best Friends" Kurt Gibson and Brodie Smith were behind them in second place at 5:35AM.

Brodie and Kurt were then followed by "Dating Couple" Dana Borriello and Matt Steffanina in third place at 5:48AM, "Father and Daughter" Scott Fowler and Blair Fowler at 6:08AM, "Newlyweds" Zach King and Rachel King at 6:18AM, "Dating Couple" Burnie Burns and Ashley Jenkins at 6:37AM, and finally Sheri and Cole at 6:38AM.

The teams were instructed to fly to Yerevan, Armenia and search for their next clue at the Yerevan Opera Theater.

All teams booked seats on the same flight, so everyone was on a level playing field.

Brodie and Kurt ripped open their next clue at the theater in first place, discovering that the winners of this leg would receive the coveted Express Pass. Behind Brodie and Kurt were Zach and Rachel, Scott and Blair, Burnie and Ashley, Sheri and Cole, and then Tyler and Korey.

The teams couldn't pick up their tickets at the box office until 8AM the next morning. Once that time came, the teams learned they must find their next clue hidden somewhere in the theater.

Teams frantically looked under seats and even under the stage as musicians and dancers performed loud music onstage. A janitor, who was cleaning the floors, held the tickets in his jacket. Some teams figured that out quickly, while others -- such as Tyler and Korey, and Scott and Blair -- searched for a while and lost a lot of ground in the process.

Brodie and Kurt found the clue before any of the other teams. They were then followed by Burnie and Ashley, Sheri and Cole, Dana and Matt, Zach and Rachel, Tyler and Korey, and then Scott and Blair.

The teams' next set of clues sent them on foot to The Cascade, which turned out to be a giant staircase which they had to climb all the way to the top.

Brodie and Kurt arrived at The Cascade in first place. They were soon followed by Sheri and Cole, Dana and Matt, Burnie and Ashley, Zach and Rachel, Tyler and Korey, and Scott and Blair.

It then became time for the teams to complete one of two possible Detour tasks: "Thread" or "Bread."

"Thread" required the teams to complete one row of 200 stitches on a massive Armenian carpet.

"Bread" required the teams to roll out dough and then bake 15 pieces of lavash bread in an underground oven.

Sheri and Cole took on the rug task as well as Zach and Rachel, Tyler and Korey, Scott and Blair, and Dana and Matt.

Brodie and Kurt opted to try the bread task, in addition to Burnie and Ashley.

Brodie and Kurt finished the Detour task before any of the other teams. On their heels were Sheri and Cole, Burnie and Ashley, Zach and Rachel, Tyler and Korey, Scott and Blair, and Dana and Matt.

The teams' next set of clues instructed them to travel by bus to the first stop after Hatsavan and search for their next clue on the side of the road

Tyler and Korey had trouble finding a cab after the Detour task, so they saw themselves falling into last place.

Brodie and Kurt found the clue at a street vendor first. They were then followed by Sheri and Cole, Burnie and Ashley, Zach and Rachel, Dana and Matt, Scott and Blair, and finally Tyler and Korey.

It then became time for one member from each team to complete a Roadblock task.

The participating Racers were forced to change the oil in a Lada taxi by following the instructions in a shop guide. Once the mechanic approved the oil change, the teams would earn their next clue and ride in the car they worked on to the Pit Stop.

Kurt performed the Roadblock as well as Burnie, Zach, Matt, Scott, Tyler, and Sheri.

Sheri couldn't get her oil filter off and Burnie tried to help her with it. She was apparently tightening the part rather than loosening it. Sheri hated that she was letting her son down, especially when he was being so sweet about it. In the end, however, Scott assisted her and they figured out the problem.

Brodie and Kurt finished the Roadblock in first place. They were then followed by Burnie and Ashley, Zach and Rachel, Dana and Matt, Scott and Blair, Tyler and Korey, and Sheri and Cole.

The teams then learned they must head to the Pit Stop at the Temple of Garni and search the grounds for Phil.

Brodie and Kurt arrived at the Pit Stop mat in first place, winning the Express Pass, which they could use before the end of the ninth leg. They felt an even bigger target was going to be on their backs because of the advantage, but they just intended to keep racing smart.

Burnie and Ashley finished the leg in second place, and then Burnie and Ashley placed third.

Zach and Rachel got to the Pit Stop in fourth place, followed by Dana and Matt in fifth, Scott and Blair in sixth, and then Tyler and Korey in seventh. Sheri and Cole arrived at the Pit Stop in eighth -- and last -- place, but they were told to keep racing.
